THE REED HYBRID SHORT
You don't see many guys surfing in the line up with cargo shorts. Sure, jean cut offs in parts of northwest Florida but not cargo shorts. I am out at the local spot down in Peru, and I see this guy surfing in these boardshorts with entirely too many pockets on them. And I am thinking to myself, what an idiot, this guy should have packed an extra pair of boardshorts before this trip. After talking to the guy, I come to find out that these are his favorite pair of shorts. Apparently they are the best shorts ever for traveling and surfing. It's cut like your longer boardshort, and made from the same quick dry microsuede. But looks like your typical cargo short. Eventually the guy tells me that the only thing that sucks about them is that the brand doesn't make them anymore because cargos aren't in fashion. I guess most surf companies prefer to make shorts that resemble fishing lures. Anything with neon colors and tassles is sure to sell. The next day I get the shorts. Send them down to Lima so we can make patterns and now its part of line for the next 10 to 15 years. We been selling these for a couple years now and they sell to kayakers, fishermen, and traveling surfers. The guy's name was Reed and now so are his shorts.
